Does some sort of global context for poetry at the start of the 21st century exist? If so, can we assert that poets throughout the world are pretty much fully aware of the variety of poetic traditions and in turn cultivate them in their own poetry? Or perhaps we should acknowledge altogether similar “fashionable” stylistics with repeated formal themes and elements in several languages – a flat “worldly” poetry, that is not concerned with traditions, nor its own significance? How can we define this type of poetry? And is it worth it?
