News and Events

This week marks the beginning of the annual 32nd International literature festival Druskininkai Poetic Fall, which begins with the presentation of Druskininkai Poetic Fall Anthology.

We invite you to listen to the readings of the selection of poems by contemporary Lithuanian poets From the Jerusalem of the North.

Next week marks the beginning of the annual 31st international Druskininkai Poetic Fall, which begins on October 7. We anticipate the occasion by announcing the laureates of the Yotvingian and Young Yotvingian Awards.

These were six short films from the Vilnius Review poetry video project.

The project works by asking poets to pick a space where they would like to be filmed reading one of their poems.

All the literary events are currently alive only in our thoughts and memories, and new book launches await their designated evenings. However, there is yet nothing that hinders us from reading poetry and listening to it virtually.

Who writes my poem?

Lina Buividavičiūtė

“Who writes my poem?” – a discussion moderated by Lina Buividavičiūtė will be held in Aušrinė Hall, October 4, 14:00. Participants: Jurgita Jasponytė, Giedrė Kazlauskaitė, Gytis Norvilas, Kornelijus Platelis.

Ramunė Brundzaitė concluded this season of Lithuanian poetry for the festivals of VERSOPOLIS this August with her readings in the Slovenian festival "Dnevi poezije in vina" (Days of Poetry and Wine). For us, this year has been especially vivid: in May, the poet Indrė Valantinaitė participated in the Croatian festival "Goranovo proljeće" (Goran’s Spring) and was also invited to the United Kingdom to attend the Ledbury Poetry Festival. In April, the poet Agnė Žagrakalytė visited our neighbors in Gdansk and took part in the festival "Odnalezione w tłumaczeniu" (Found in Translation).

The festival will take place during October 2–7 in the cities of Vilnius and Druskininkai.

On July 1 and 2, New Zealand’s poet Hera Lindsay Bird visited Vilnius and Kaunas. This has been one of the first meetings that will be more frequent in the context of Druskininkai Poetic Fall festival. We have plans to invite various poets and to organize meetings with them not just in Vilnius or Druskininkai, but also in other towns and cities of Lithuania.

We are starting the 29th summer preceding Durskininkai Poetic Fall with a new web site, whose goal is much more than just to be there.

On July 1 and 2, Hera Lindsay Bird, New Zealand poet and New Generation winner, will be visiting Lithuania and meeting the audience. In 2016, she debuted with her poem collection "Hera Lindsay Bird" that became popular immediately and was bought up overnight.
