She studied at the Faculty of Economics of Latvia State University (1977\u20131982) and the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow (1983\u20131988). Rancane has worked as an engineer-economist, editor of the publishing house Liesma, and head of the literary department of Daugavpilis Theater, but mostly as a journalist: chief editor of the newspaper Latgales Laiks (1992\u20132000), regional correspondent of the newspaper Diena (2001\u20132011), and news producer of Latgale regional television (2011\u20132014). Anna Rancane was elected to the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia in 2022. She writes in Latvian and Latgalian, and is the author of nine poetry books as well as some plays and movie scripts. Anna Rancane was awarded the Order of the Three Stars by the Republic of Latvia, and is a recipient of multiple cultural and literary prizes.<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ana Rancan\u0117 gim\u0117 1959 m.
