My mother, Lizdenyt\u0117, was from Viek\u0161niai (a true Samogitian), and my father was from Pernarava, \u2013 a Lithuanian from the middle of the country.<\/p><p>I was born in 1959, the time of Khrushchev\u2019s collective leadership, in the town of Kuliai, a male (as is stated on my birth certificate). From the age of four, I lived in Dz\u016bkija, in the \u2018ethnographic\u2019 village of Marcinkonys, and from the age of six in Naujoji Vilnia, and then Vilnius. For 55 years, I\u2019ve been a denizen of this city. I finished school, and went on to higher education in the Faculty of Philology at Vilnius University, studying Lithuanian literature and language, as well as screenwriting at the Lithuanian Conservatory. I\u2019ve written five collections of poetry, essays, children\u2019s books, plays for the theater and television scripts, as well as criticism in the cultural press and other fields. I\u2019m now a free artist, the leader of the Lithuanian Leisure Party, an organization which is not registered in the Lithuanian Party Register, but which works legally as a collection of nonconforming artists and free citizens.
