He graduated from the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (currently the Vytautas Magnus University Education Academy). He worked as a teacher in Klaip\u0117da, and later as a correspondent and editor of <em>Mokslas ir gyvenimas<\/em>, <em>Kinas<\/em>, and other journals. In 1993, he headed a seminar on Lithuanian culture at Charles University in Prague, and in 1998 \u2013 at Masaryk University in Brno; he also headed a seminar on Czech language at Vytautas Magnus University in 2002 and 2003. Almis Grybauskas is the author of eight poetry books; for his book <em>Toli blizga<\/em> (Shines Far), he became a laureate of the Spring Poetry Festival. Grybauskas translated Cz. Mi\u0142osz\u2019s <em>The Captive Mind<\/em>, <em>The Land of Ulro<\/em>, and other works. He also authored essays on traditional and contemporary mythologization and wrote articles in Czech press on T. Venclova, L. Karsavin, A. Maceina, and other notable authors. Almis Grybauskas has translated poetry and prose works from Latvian, German, Slovak, and French languages.<\/p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almis Grybauskas gim\u01171947 m.
