A.E. Stallings (USA)

A.E. (Alicia) Stallings was born in 1968 in Decatur, Georgia. She studied classics at the University of Georgia and Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. She worked as an editor for the newspaper Atlanta Review. Since 1999, she has lived in Athens, Greece. She is the director of the poetry programs at The Athens Centre. She is the author of five poetry collections: Archaic Smile (1999), Hapax (2006), Olives (2012), Like (2018), and This Afterlife (2022). She has translated Lucretius’ epic On the Nature of Things, Hesiod’s Works and Days, and the mock-epic Battle of the Frogs and Mice. She has received the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, fellowships from the Guggenheim and MacArthur foundations, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2023, she was appointed Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford. Atlanta Review. Nuo 1999 m. gyvena Atėnuose. Amerikos menų ir mokslų akademijos narė. 2023 m. jai suteiktas Oksfordo universiteto Poezijos profesorės titulas.
