Birutė Grašytė-Black (Lithuania)

Birutė Grašytė-Black was born in 1992 in the village of Grašiai, Utena district. She received a bachelor’s degree in Lithuanian philology from the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, and a master’s degree in literary anthropology and culture from Vilnius University. Her debut poetry book Sumokėjau alyvmedžio lapais (I Paid with Lilac Leaves, 2022) won the Lithuanian Writers’ Union’s first book competition and earned her the Zigmas Gėlė and Young Yotvingian prizes.
