James Appleby (United Kingdom)

James Appleby was born in 1993 in Manchester. He lives in Edinburgh, works as a conference translator from French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and edits the literary journal of translated literature, Interpret. His poems have been published in The London Magazine and The Best American Poetry website, among other places. His debut poetry collection, Spurious Language, was published in 2025, and the manuscript was commended in the International Book & Pamphlet Competition. He is a recipient of a grant from the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation and winner of the McLellan Poetry Competition.
