Miłosz Biedrzycki (Poland)

Miłosz Biedrzycki was born in 1967 in Koper, Slovenia. He graduated from the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Kraków, and is a geophysical engineer. He is part of the “Brulion Generation” associated with the literary magazine Brulion; he also writes under the abbreviation MLB. He is the author of nine poetry collections, and his poetry books have been published in the USA, Slovenia, and Ukraine. His poems translated into English have appeared in Boston Review, Fence, Washington Square Review and other journals. The most important collections of recent years are: Sofostrofa i inne wiersze (Sofostrofa and Other Poems, 2007, nominated for the Gdynia Literary Prize), Porumb (2013, nominated for the Orpheus and Silesius Prizes), Wiosna ludzi (Spring of People, 2022, nominated for the Silesius Prize). He and his mother, Katarina Šalamun-Biedrzycka, translated a book by the Slovenian poet Uroš Zupan which won the Wisława Szymborska Prize. He has also translated books by Slovenian poets Meta Kušar, Katja Gorečan, Anja Golob, Aleš Šteger and his uncle, the modern-classic Slovenian poet Tomaž Šalamun. In 2013, he participated in Lithuania’s Poetry Spring festival, and his poems were published in the local literary press.
