Erika Drungytė (Lithuania)

Erika Drungytė was born in 1971 in Kaunas. She studied Lithuanian philology and theatre at Klaipėda University. She defended her doctoral dissertation on the work of Vytautas Bložė at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. Since 2016, she has been the editor-in-chief of the culture and arts magazine Nemunas. She has published six poetry collections and has translated two novels by Māra Zālīte from Latvian, a collection of poetry by Liana Langa, and compiled and translated an anthology of contemporary Latvian poetry. She has received the Nėris, Baranauskas, Brazdžionis, Mezginaitė and Aistis prizes for her poetry, and the Poetry Spring Prize for translations of world poetry into Lithuanian. A mother of three, she lives on a homestead near Druskininkai where she cultivates a garden and organizes cultural salons.
