Charl-Pierre Naudé (South Africa)

Charl-Pierre Naudé was born in 1958 in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal Province, and grew up in Durban and East London in the Eastern Cape. He studied philosophy and literature at Stellenbosch University. After graduation, he worked as a journalist in Johannesburg. He is the author of three poetry collections: Die nomadiese oomblik (The Nomadic Moment, 1995, winner of the Ingrid Jonker Prize), In die geheim van die dag (Against the Light, 2004, winner of the M-Net Poetry Prize), and Al die lieflike dade (All the Lovely Acts, 2014). He has written one novel in Afrikaans, one in English, and a book on philosophy. A volume of his poetry in German translation has also been published.
